The first wave of AI tools was mostly aimed at knowledge workers, writers, marketers, analysts. Trades and service businesses have had to wait longer, but the three biggest field service platforms have all now shipped real AI features, not previews or roadmap slides.
What's actually live
Jobber AI1 auto-drafts quotes from a new job request using your existing templates and past quotes, flags high-value jobs so you can follow up fast, and includes a built-in business assistant you can chat or talk to on mobile for pricing and scheduling questions. Jobber's own documentation describes it plainly2: it "will use the details from the request, your quote templates, and past quotes to build a draft that's ready for you to review and send." Jobber serves customers in the US, Canada, and the UK, so this is one most UK trades businesses can actually sign up for.
Housecall Pro's AI updates3, shipped in October 2025, include a customer-history lookup tool, a 'write it for me' assistant that drafts professional messages for invoices and estimates, and a central inbox that pulls customer, employee, and AI messages into one place. It is built primarily for the US market.
ServiceTitan's Atlas assistant4, announced in December 2025, lets contractors ask questions in plain English to pull reports, find jobs, and dispatch technicians, with deeper automation rolling out through 2026. ServiceTitan is built for businesses that have already outgrown Jobber-sized operations, not the sole trader or small team this briefing is usually written for.

Why Jobber is the one worth your attention
Housecall Pro and ServiceTitan are both genuinely capable, but neither is a realistic starting point for a small UK trades business: Housecall Pro is US-focused, and ServiceTitan is built for larger operations with the job-costing and multi-crew dispatching needs to match. Jobber is the one that is both UK-available and sized for a business with one to a handful of people, which makes its AI features the ones actually worth trying.
What to do
If you already run your business through Jobber, turn on the quote automations and spend ten minutes asking the AI assistant a real question, something like what you should charge for a job type, or how your week is shaping up. If you are not on any of these platforms, this is not a reason to switch, the setup cost of moving your whole business onto new software is a bigger decision than one quoting feature. For general quoting, follow-up emails, and job notes in the meantime, ChatGPT and Otter.ai still do the job without requiring a platform change.
Are there AI tools specifically built for tradespeople?
Yes. Jobber, Housecall Pro, and ServiceTitan have all shipped AI features for trades and service businesses over the past several months, covering auto-drafted quotes, AI-written customer messages, and natural-language business assistants. Jobber is the one that is both UK-available and sized for a small trades business.
What AI tools should trades businesses use right now?
If you already use Jobber, turn on its quote automations and try the AI chat assistant, these are live features, not previews. If you are not on a trades-specific platform, ChatGPT for quotes and follow-up emails, and Otter.ai for job notes on site, remain the most practical general-purpose options.
Is Jobber's AI quoting feature available to UK trades businesses?
Yes. Jobber serves customers in the US, Canada, and the UK, and its AI quoting automations (auto-drafted quotes from job requests, high-value job alerts) are part of the standard platform, not a US-only preview.
Should a small UK trades business switch software just for these AI features?
No. Moving your whole business onto new field-service software is a much bigger decision than one quoting feature. These AI tools are worth knowing about if you are already choosing between platforms, or already use one of them, but not a reason to switch on their own.
